Melville, New York, November 19, 2009 – MSC Industrial Direct Co., Inc. today announced that its Atlanta Customer Fulfillment Center (CFC) has been selected to receive the State of Georgia's 2008 Commissioner's Award for Outstanding Safety Performance. The Commissioner's Award is the state's highest honor and was presented in a ceremony at the Georgia Safety, Health and Environmental Conference in late October.
The Georgia Department of Labor annually recognizes the top performing companies in the State of Georgia in the area of outstanding safety performance. MSC Atlanta was recognized out of more than 200,000 Georgia employers for the dedication, commitment and involvement demonstrated by the management and workforce, as well as its remarkable results in safety performance.
One of the key criteria for the award was documentation that the company experienced at least 250 days in the calendar year where no associate missed time due to workplace injury or illness. Other important factors were MSC Atlanta’s partnerships with Chubb Insurance Company and local contractors, as well as demonstrated teamwork among internal departments. MSC also implemented two new systems that focused on “distracted working” and ergonomics to improve the safety of the workforce
"We are honored to be the recipients of this prestigious award," said Brian Nulty, Regional ES&H Manager of MSC Industrial Supply Co. "We will continue to forge strong partnerships with contractors, insurance companies and internal departments to ensure the continuation of our workplace safety efforts."
